Success Stories
“The vision is yours alone, seen only by you and brought to life through your unique perspective. It all began with Stars of Science. The network you build here is incredible; this family will be the driving force propelling you forward” says Majed Lababidi, Stars of Science (SOS) season 3 alumnus.
Project & Impact
Majed, an individual with equal parts scientific acumen and entrepreneurial spirit, competed in Season 3 of Stars of Science with a groundbreaking project. This innovation cleverly merged advanced technology with savvy business strategy.
His project generated advertising revenue while offering free wireless internet in public venues like coffee shops, restaurants and universities. Leveraging his deep understanding of the advertising industry, the Syrian inventor spotted a market opportunity: the widespread availability of free Wi-Fi in bustling locations. Recognizing public internet users as an untapped audience, Majed developed a product that provided people with what they desired most – free internet – in exchange for viewing advertisements.
Beyond Stars of Science
After Stars of Science, Majed continued to innovate and start businesses, focusing on creating new solutions. He launched Fi Technologies- a wifi advertising platform, which won “Best ICT Startup” at the 2014 ICT Business Awards in Qatar. He also represented Qatar in the “Startup Nations Summit” in South Korea in 2014.
In 2016, Majed co-founded Droobi Health, a company specializing in health management through a mobile app for chronic conditions like diabetes and obesity. Droobi Health earned the “Tech Startup of the Year” at the 2018 Qatar IT Business Awards and collaborated with Hamad Medical Corporation on major initiatives such as the Qatar Diabetes Prevention Programme.
By 2020, Majed co-founded Rawi Al Kotob, an Arabic audio content platform offering audiobooks, podcasts, audio articles and documentaries. This project supports Qatar National Vision 2030 by promoting education and knowledge in Arabic, providing a new way of learning, and enhancing educational experiences for all, including people with special needs.
He is now the Director of Ecosystem Integration at Alchemist Accelerator- Doha branch. Alchemist accelerator is a Silicon Valley-based accelerator specializing in enterprise startups, providing mentorship, seed funding, and access to a vast network of investors and experts from many fields. Alchemist Doha will identify and invest in the most promising founders with compelling products and early market traction.
