Dr. Maya Antoun

Maya Antoun received her Bachelor and Master of Engineering degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 2011 and 2013, respectively. She later pursued her PhD in Computer Vision and Deep Learning at AUB, where her research focused on Human-Object Interaction Detection in Paintings using Multi-Task Learning. Maya has extensive experience in deep learning and computer vision applications, working on projects spanning object detection, segmentation, tracking, and digital twins. She has contributed to research in autonomous driving, industrial safety, and cultural heritage, publishing in leading journals and conferences. Currently, she is a Research Associate at AUB, leading efforts in the DIDYMOS Horizon Europe project, where she focuses on real-world object detection and simulation for digital twin applications. Beyond academia, Maya has worked as a private consultant for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Her technical expertise includes deep learning, computer vision, SLAM, and digital twin technologies.
