QBRI is a national institute, under the umbrella of Hamad bin Khalifa University, aims to improve and transform healthcare through innovation in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting the Qatari population and the region. As a disease-focused institute, QBRI focuses on applying integrative and multidisciplinary approaches to provide novel insights into the molecular basis of Breast Cancer; Type 2 Diabetes; and Neurological Disorders such as Autism and Epilepsy and the development of novel biomarkers, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to facilitate early diagnosis, treatment and management of these devastating diseases.
QBRI aims to attract outstanding scientists and establish rigorous multidisciplinary research programs supported by state-of-the-art research laboratories, core facilities and technology platforms on par with those existing at top institutions around the world.
For a translational biomedical institution such as QBRI, strategic research partnerships with local and international research institutions is important to support the development of its program and build scientific capacity. QBRI is currently engaged in active discussions with several leading research institutions to develop joint initiatives.
