Country Egypt
Rank 4th Place Winner
"The human potential we have in the Arab region is priceless and unmatched. Never give up and always believe in yourself — I can assure you that more opportunities will arise and turn your success into reality!"

About

Sherif Yehia has always believed in technology’s power to change lives. Moved by the anxiety he lived because of his hearing-impaired cousin, he decided to create a solution that would bridge communication gaps.
During his time on Stars of Science in 2013, Sherif developed a device that translates unclear speech and sounds into either audible speech or written text — allowing people with speech impairments to express themselves and connect with the world around them. He was a pioneer in AI and machine learning.

Sherif secured fourth place in Season 5 and went on to enhance his invention by shifting the technology to a cloud-based platform. He remains deeply committed to his goal of making daily life easier for individuals with speech and hearing disabilities, both in the Arab world and globally.

About the Project

The Voice Translator project addresses the needs of a frequently overlooked community: individuals with speech and hearing difficulties. The device allows users to input personalized expressions and convert them into clear language for daily communication — boosting their independence and reducing social isolation.

Impact

After the show, Sherif moved to Germany and began his professional journey as a software engineer specializing in advanced automotive systems, including AutoSAR, safety, and AI-based solutions.

He later co-founded TechnoWelle, a startup focused on intelligent automotive and drone software, with active operations in Egypt, Germany, and Turkey. Today, TechnoWelle is building innovative drone solutions for civil applications while offering high-level engineering and consultancy services in AI-powered system architecture and embedded software design.

In addition to his technical pursuits, Sherif is passionate about film and visual storytelling. He directed a short documentary capturing the lives of Egyptian expatriates in Germany during holiday celebrations and is currently working on projects that highlight the experiences of Arabs living abroad.

He also launched an educational YouTube channel to support aspiring Arab engineers, driven by his belief in the power of knowledge-sharing and community support.

Sherif considers his Stars of Science journey the most transformative milestone of his career — a period that equipped him with new skills, self-confidence, and access to unexpected opportunities that helped shape his future.

He fondly recalls the sacrifices he made, including missing the birth of his daughter during filming, but believes the noble goal was worth it.
He closes with a message to young innovators: “Share your ideas. Don’t fear the challenges. It’s determination that turns dreams into reality.”
